Turning Interest Into Action

Cancer is on the rise in the developing world. While 20 years ago, the percentage of new cases was similar for developed and developing countries, today, over 55 percent of new cases are arising in developing nations... and its still growing. What's more, over 70 percent of deaths from cancer worldwide occur in low and middle-income countries. 

Our mission is to provide holistic knowledge and raise awareness about the increasing burden, while raise funds for low-income cancer patients. These funds are used to support their treatment and hospital costs. We also work on educating patients and caretakers about symptoms, side-effects, treatment options, etc. with multimedia and info sessions.

At Brown, Umeed seeks to inform our community about the social and financial challenges of cancer care in a developing country like India.
